Having been born in southern California, Jay doesn’t claim to be a lifetime resident of Greene County PA. However, having lived most of his life here he has developed and strong love and passion for the people. He has spent much of his adult life pursuing that passion and is committed to serving the people of Greene County.
In 1980, his life was dramatically impacted when he was confronted with the gospel in an unmistakable and extreme way. Since then, his pursuit of allowing God to transform both him and his mission field through Kingdom building activities has been apparent. Soon after accepting Christ as Savior, he and his soon to be wife (Penny) became youth leaders to a group of 30+ teenagers in the Waynesburg area.
His next adventure, along with Penny and another couple, would be to start the Waynesburg Bible Chapel. Serving as a shepherd to the flock in which he had been entrusted, along with managing a local grocery store made for a very full life. Eventually marriage and two beauty daughters would be part of God's plan for their lives. In addition to the change of a growing family, Jay also began working at Procter & Gamble Distributing Co. where he has spent more than 30 years in various managerial and executive roles.
In the late 90's his burden for missions would lead him and his family on their first mission trip to Cherokee, NC. That trip would serve as the beginnings of a short-term missions organization that is now called Hands & Feet Ministries. Currently, this organization has ministered in more than 12 countries and continues to “embrace the world for Christ” with the gospel, in both words and deeds.
Jay's moto for not only ministry, but for all of life is found in Ecclesiastes 9:10 - "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all of your might..." (NIV)
